NEW METRICS FOR SUCCESS:
TRANSFORMING WHAT WE VALUE IN SCHOOLS
New Metrics is a research-practice partnership between The University of Melbourne and selected Australian schools.
Learning ambitions for students are changing to encompass the broader and deeper learning now required for young people to thrive, at school and beyond. These ambitions reflect the social, economic, environmental and technological circumstances of the day. In response, ‘first mover’ schools, with the academic input, support and convening power of The University of Melbourne, are substantially reforming the design and organisation of learning.
Leaders in the New Metrics partnership also have in mind that reform of this kind requires commonly agreed metrics for learner success used by the community to judge success and provide a better basis for assessing, recognising and improving learning. Appropriate metrics for learner success can then be used to derive more appropriate metrics for school success, and thus for jurisdictional, and National success as well.

CORE EVENTS
Core events can be found on the left side of the Event Lobby.
Partnership Seminars
Essential events for all partners will: frame the potential breadth and focus of the work using a common framework; establish directions; determine next steps for individual schools and the partnership, and; present the 'must knows' (research, academic input, industry input, program and administration information, networking opportunities) for the benefit of all involved.
Seminars and workshops will be recorded, so schools can check back to previous event dates for the recording and watch again in their own time.
OPTIONAL EVENTS
Optional events can be found on the left side of the Event Lobby.
Workshops
These sessions will be planned in response to schools' needs and the direction of the work. Schools select if the focus of a session will support their context and ambitions.
These sessions will: further broaden understanding of the work; draw on the experience of others; be a space for partners to unpack specific focus points together and share their work (both successes and challenges), and; be related to a specific element of the New Metrics vision.
Partners are welcome to contact the New Metrics team anytime to offer requests for speakers or to suggest a specific focus for a workshop or seminar.
Upcoming Additional Dates
